摘要
Fabrication of bimetallic composites by conventional solid-solid or solid-liquid approaches is usually complex and expensive. The present study develops a simple and economical liquid-liquid method by exploiting the liquid phase separation phenomenon and combining it with centrifugal casting. With this method, a Cu/Fe bimetallic composite tube was successfully prepared, which consists of an inner Fe-rich layer and an outer Cu-rich layer having a metallurgical bonding interface with a shear bond strength of 177 MPa. The mechanism underlying this method has been analyzed by clarifying the roles of Marangoni and centrifugal forces in the motion of Fe-rich droplets.
