Cultural competency: Haiti and at home

Nearly 2 months have passed since Haiti was struck by a devastating earthquake, causing an estimated 230000 deaths. We read and saw in the media the frustration, anguish and anger of the survivors and rescue agencies as they struggled against the sheer scale of destruction hampering the rescue of those still alive under the rubble and the supply of food, water and provision of first aid.
