SummaryThe application of electroplating technology to the electronics industry has resulted in a revised interest into both plating formulations and novel engineering technology. This paper attempts to describe the methods by which conventional plating technology is revised when used in the electronics industry. After a brief review of electroplated metals and alloys used in electronic technology a number of specific applications are discussed in more detail. Areas covered include contact materials, printed circuitry, soldering and various specialist applications where novel methods are used.
