The application and estimation of complication about forceps delivery

Objective To analyze the different kind of forceps deliveries and by which the trauma of mother and infant are caused,and estimate the variance among different forceps deliveries and different trauma, and make for a correct understanding on obstetric forceps midwifery. Methods The 137 cases about obstetric forceps midwifery, which is all from our faculty from on January in 2002 to on December in 2006, are classified into different type of midwiferies and trauma, then the data about various kinds of cases is analyzed by statistic method. Results Low forceps has more application than two other forceps deliveries, and the difference is notable(P0.05); Low-middle forceps causes the highest trauma and outlet forceps causes the lowest, and the difference is notable(P0.05); Among the different complications of the mothers, vaginal laceration is the most(P0.01),but there is no notable difference in all kinds of fetal trauma. Conclusions Outlet forceps has better safety than the others. Low forceps is significant in forceps delivery.It is necessary to prevent further various kinds of trauma of mother and infant, and especially the vaginal laceration.
