Application of Colloid Silica in Surface Sizing and Coating

The applications of industrial colloid silica in surface sizing and coating process were studied in the article.The surface strength,ink absorbency and water resistance of the paper were analyzed by measuring picking velocity,absorbability of ink and contact angle.The optimum application condition of colloid silica in paper coating and surface sizing process was obtained.Surface strength of the paper increased firstly,and then decreased;while ink absorbency and water resistance decreased gradually,with the dosage of colloid silica increasing gradually.The applications of colloid silica improved the print quality of the paper.
