An improved method for synthesizing 3-pyridine acetic acid hydrochloride

An intermediate of bone resorption inhibitor risedronate sodium,3-pyridine acetic acid hydrochloride was synthesized from nicotic acid via esterfication,condensation,Willgerodt-Kinndler reaction and hydrolysis.The reaction condition of this method was mild and all raw materials were easily available and cheap.It was simple and suitable for industrialization.The overall yield was 58%.
