The growing complexity of real-world problems has motivated scientists to search for efficient problem-solving methods.Metaheuristic algorithms are becoming an important part of modern optimization.A new metaheuristic optimization algorithm,called Cuckoo Search(CS),was developed recently by Yang and Deb.This optimization algorithm is inspired by the life of a bird family,called Cuckoo.Application of the proposed algorithm to some benchmark functions have indicated that the proposed approach is a powerful search and optimization technique that may yield better solutions than those obtained using current algorithms.We discuss the unique search features used in CS and the implications for further research.
