Study on the Naphthalene Phase Spectrophotometry of Copper with 8-Hydroxyquinoline and Determination of Micro Copper

The colour reaction of copper with 8 hydorxyquinoline in naphthalene phase has been studied. In the medium of NaAc-HAc (pH 4), the coloured complex of copper-8 hydroxyquinoline can be quantitatively extracted with naphthalene. Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0 to 60μg/40mL of copper. The method has been applied to the determination of micro copper in copper ore with satisfactory results.
