1 Introduction Kyanite is an important naturally occurring industrial mineral and is used in the manufacture of a variety of industrial ceramic products; notable examples include refractories and porcelains. It is a highpressure polymorph of the aluminosilicates of the nesosilicate group, which includes kyanite, sillimanite,and andalusite.
