A process for removal of SO 2 from flue gas and then accessory production of dilute sulfuric acid by aqueous pyrolusite catalyzed oxidation was studied in absorption tower in the semi continuous operation condition. The effects of the ratio of pyrolusite to water, stay time, inlet concentration of SO 2,temperature,etc.on desulfurization and production of dilute sulfuric acid were investigated. The results provided the theoretical basis for industrial use of aqueous suspension of pyrolusite in flue gas desulfurization then producing dilute sulfuric acid.
