Active efflux is the primary antibiotic-resistance mechanism that exists in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Among various active efflux systems, resistance-nodulation-division (RND) efflux pump is the most common type. This paper aims to summarize the recent published articles, and review the structure, substrates and epidemiology of RND efflux pump in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and available inhibitors.
