Studies on Dehydroalanine Derivatives. V. Radical Polymerization of N-Carboxy-dehydroalanine Anhydride and of N-Phthaloyl-dehydroalanine. Synthesis of a New Amphoteric Polymer

Abstract Homopolymers of N-carboxy-dehydroalanine anhydride (I) and of N-phthaloyl-dehydroalanine (II), and copolymers of II with vinyl acetate were synthesized. Hydrolysis or hydrazinolysis was carried out to obtain polymers containing α-amino acid structures. Actual structures of these polymers were discussed.
