Controlling Project Scope

The two scope processes in the monitoring and controlling process group are control scope and verify scope. Control scope ensures that only the work identified as being in-scope is delivered. In other words, it guards against scope creep. The scope baseline and the requirements are compared against the actual results to ensure that all of the approved scope is being delivered. Verify Scope takes the deliverables that have been validated as correct in the perform quality control process and works with the customer or sponsor to inspect them for acceptance. This chapter discusses the verify scope process and how deliverables flow through the project. It also discusses the relationship between the various processes in the monitoring and controlling process group. The chapter focuses on controlling the project scope.
