Extract Large-scale proteomics is rapidly changing how we generate, prioritise, and discover potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets in COPD and many other chronic respiratory conditions. In this issue of the European Respiratory Journal, Lee et al. [1] report a multi-ancestry meta-analysis of circulating proteins of five cohorts, which together enrolled thousands of participants, to determine biomarkers related to lung function and, specifically, COPD.
