A mast cell gatekeeper for skull–dura–brain inflammation after stroke

Wang et al. propose that post-stroke inflammation is driven not only by disruption of the blood–brain barrier, but also by immune signalling between the skull, meninges and brain. They conclude that targeting dural mast cells may help limit early inflammatory injury after stroke.
