Objective: To analyze the rules of combining various medicinal components and characterize these combinations of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) formula treating hemopathic disease using statistical methods.Methods: We first constructed a database consisting of 296 TCM formulas treating hemopathic diseases.Then we used two matrix-based methods to characterize these formulas.Results: Single herb Astragali Radix(Huangqi) occurred most frequently.For herbal pairs,Angelicae Sinensis Radix(Danggui)-Astragali Radix(Huangqi) had the highest occurrence.For herbal groups,the occurrence of the highest is the combinations of Astragali Radix(Huangqi)-Angelicae Sinensis Radix(Danggui)-Rehmanniae Praeparata Radix(Shudihuang).Conclusion: Astragali Radix(Huangqi) was the primary components of TCM formula to treat hemopathic diseases.Angelicae Sinensis Radix(Dang gui)-Astragali Radix(Huangqi) is the most important herbal pairs in these formulas.The potential mechanism of actions for these formulas based on the TCM theory are replenishing qi,fortifying spleen,nourishing the blood and cooling the blood.This paper first reveals combination rule of Hemopathic formula of TCM on information analysis.
