Reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Interpersonal Reactivity Index -C.

Objective:To evaluate the reliability and validity of the Interpersonal Reactivity Index-C.Methods:Multiple dimensions of empathy were assessed in 365 schizophrenic patients and 529 healthy subjects with a self-rating instrument,the Interpersonal Reactivity Index-C(IRI-C);and all the 365 schizophrenic patients and 529 healthy subjects were retested by IRI-C.Results:The split half of reliability was 0.734;the Cronbach α-coefficient of IRI-C and the four factors were 0.750,0.721,0.624,0.532,0.758 respectively,the test-retest reliability were 0.737,0.700,0.735,0.625,0.655.IRI-C had four factors which were extracted by factor analysis,and accumulated variance was 46.342%.All of them had significant differentiation validity(P0.001).Conclusion:IRI-C has good reliability and validity in application to Chinese people.
