The Preliminary Study on the Embryotoxic Effect of Diethylstilbestrol in Rats

Objective To investigate the embryotoxic effect of diethylstilbestrol in rats.Methods The pregnant rats were treated with di- ethylstilbestrol via injection at concentrations d 50μg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)or 100μg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)throughout gestation.The general status of pregnant rats and fetus was observed,Results Expcsure to diethylstilbestrol,at a concentration d 50μg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1),resulted in significant reduction in mean body weight of fetus.At adoseof 100μg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1),average litter size,and body and tail length of fetus significantly decreased.Conclusion There existed some embryotoxicity of diethylstilbestrol to rats.
