Innovative subjectivity of transeditors in intercultural communication – a case study of the translated news of the 2008 Olympic Games

This paper deals with transeditors' innovative subjectivity in facilitating intercultural communication from both the journalistic and the translational perspectives. By applying the basic notions of Douglas Robinson's ‘dialogical’ mode to the analysis of the translated news carried by The Global Times that relates to the Summer Olympic Games 2008, the study argues that given the special genre of news discourse, the translators working for the press justifiably exhibit innovative subjectivity in clarifying biases in the source text and articulating their power of discourse without violating translation ethics.
