Inspiration of the England Community Pharmacy Services for the Development of Pharmacy in China

OBJECTIVE: To discuss the inspiration of the England community pharmacy service for the development of community pharmacy in China. METHODS: The effects of various systems and policy of the England community pharmacy on convenient and equal access to community pharmacy service for the public during 2000-2008 were reviewed and explored. Some suggestions were put forward for the development of community pharmacy in China in the future. RESULTS CONCLUSION: The essential services of England community pharmacy are dispensing of medicines, repeat dispensing, waste management, public health, signposting, support for self-care and clinical governance. Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has established additional services to improve their efficacy, including anti-coagulant monitoring service, drugs for special diseases, etc. Those measures have great impact on the development of community pharmacy and possibility of implementation in China.
