The Question of Content

The fourth chapter covers the content of visual anticipations, referred to as AF content. It critically discusses alternative theories of content, especially the orthodox view that perceptual content is propositional. The chapter also addresses arguments that deny visual content altogether. The final section of the chapter shows how AF content can solve four (out of five) outstanding problems in the philosophy of perception.
