Objective To study the expression and clinicopathological significance of human trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2 (Trop-2) in human lung adenocarcinoma tissue and cell line. Methods The expression of Trop-2 mRNA in nine cases of lung adenocarcinoma tissues and tissues adjacent to carcinoma was detected by RT:PCR. The protein expression of Trop-2 in human lung adenocarcinoma ceils was detected through immunofluorescence. The correlation between the expression of Trop-2 and the clinical pathological features was analyzed. Results The positive rate of Trop-2 expression was different in different human lung adenocarcinoma ceils, there was no expression in normal human bronchial epithelial cell line. Trop-2 mRNA was expressed in lung adenocarcinoma ceils and the protein expression of Trop-2 was mainly located in the membrane of lung adenocarcinoma ceils. The positive rate of Trop-2 in the tissue of human lung adenocarcinoma was significantly higher than that in tissue adjacent to carcinoma. The positive expression level increased along with the reducing of carcinoma tissue differentiation degree ( P 〈 0.05). The expression of Trop-2 was not associated with age and sex of patients ( P 〉 0.05). Conclusions Trop-2 is highly expressed in lung adenocarcinoma tissue and cell lines, which can be used as a marker for detection of malignant degree of human lung adenocarcinoma.
