Cordless Telephony and Radio in the Local Loop (RILL)

This chapter explains cordless telephony. In particular, the DECT (Digital European Cordless Telephony) network architecture and layered protocol model is presented, after a brief summary of the technologies and the technological developments which preceded it. DECT is the normal technology used in Europe for cordless telephones. It provides high quality of connection and security, through the use of digital encoding.
