Clinical Efficacy of Glycyrrhizic Acid Drugs in Inpatients

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and function characteristics of glycyrrhizic acid drugs so as to provide references for clinical drug choice.METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted in all of the hospitalized patients(17 682 cases) between Dec.2009 and Nov.2010,of whom,9 902 patients who received only one glycyrrhizic acid drug yet without using liver-protecting and transaminase-reducing drugs were enrolled in our study.A focus was laid on the study on the clinical efficacy of different glycyrrhizic acid drugs,and the clinical efficacy and use of each glycyrrhizic acid drug for the patients with different hepatic diseases were studied in detail.RESULTS: As the first category drugs for protecting liver and reducing transaminase level,three glycyrrhizic acid drugs under current study were effective for the majority of patients.The three major glycyrrhizic acid drugs were applicable for hepatitis B and alcoholic hepatitis if with effective power of greater than 90%.For hepatitis B virus(HBV) and HBV associated with hepatitis C(HCV),Magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate injection or compound glycyrrhizin had optimal efficacy,which thus can be used as preferable choice.For hepatitis E and autoimmune liver disease,Diammonium glycyrrhizinate was robustly effective thus can be used as preferable choice,with effective rates at 92.75% and 92.72%,respectively.For patients with unclear diagnosis or abnormal liver function,Glycyrrhizic acid agents could be used to improve their hepatic function and then the therapy was modified accordingly.The overall curative efficacy was poor for patients aged younger than 18 years or older than 58 years,which should be given great attention.CONCLUSION: The three glycyrrhizic acid drugs under current investigation had proved efficacy for chronic hepatitis;however the differences across the three drugs in efficacy for different type of hepatitis serve as references for clinic and which remain to be studied further.
