4-(2-methacryloxy)methylbenzophenone(4-MAMBP),a highly efficient polymerizable photo-initiator,was synthesized with 4-methylbenzophenone and 2-methylpropenoic acid, which was characterized by 1HNMR and UV absorption spectra. The hardness of TMPTA cured film was measured by pencil hardness test.Real time infrared spectroscopy(RT-IR) was applied to investigate the effects of different monomer system, various light intensity and concentration of photo-initiator on the polymerization kinetics. Finally, the photo-initiator residual of the cured film was determined. The results indicate that with the increment of light intensity, the rate of polymerization(Rp) and fi-nal double bond conversion will increase. The double bond conversion and Rp of difunctional monomer is higher and faster than that of multifunctional monomer. While the concentration of 4-MAMBP increases from 0.2% to 1.4%,the monomer's double conversion and polymerization rate will obviously increase and make the induction period short-ened.However,with increment of 4-MAMBP concentration to 1.8%,double conversion and polymerization will de-crease.The photo-initiator residual of 4-(2-methacryloxy)-methylbenzophenone is much lower than that of BP for its crosslinking in the cured film.
