Study on Water Absorption of Rice Straw MDF

Various kinds of rice straw MDF were prepared by using different water repellents to investigate the effects of the repellents such as emulsion wax,UF mixed with water retardants,UF co-polymerized with water retardants,PF and MDI etc.And the economy analysis was made to seek most feasible way to improve water absorption of rice straw MDF.Experiment results showed emulsion wax could not be used as effective water repellent for rice straw MDF;the effect of the UF co-polymerized with water retardants was better than that of the UF mixed with water retardants,and the former could significantly improve water absorption of rice straw MDF.It was concluded through comprehensive consideration that 5%melamine modified UF could be used as the best water-repellent with corresponding cost being 327 yuan/m~3.
