The diagnostic value of capsule endoscopy in the different small intestine segments

Objective To investigate the value of capsule endoscopy in the different small intestine segments.Methods After all 53 patients accepted a strict bowel cleanning,small intestine examination was implemented completely using the Israel Givens PillCamSB capsule endoscope.According to the characteristics of the small intestine lumen and the Given positioning system,the small intestine was divided into 3 sections and the cleanliness,number of lesions and lesion surface characteristics were calculated in each section.The factors that affected lesion reveals would be analyzed.Results 53 subjects had been inspection.47 subjects finished all the small intestine observation,10 subjects were found that the observed results were dissatisfied in some parts of the small intestine segments,accounted for 18.9% in total number of patients.Poor cleaning rate of each segment of the intestine was 30.8%,7.7% and 61.5% respectively.There were 42 cases found lesions in small intestine,all about 75 lesions were found in those 53 subjects.Part of the lesion surface characteristics were not well exposed.There were no significant difference in total number of lesions between the three sections of small intestine.But the percentage of non-inflammatory lesions in the three sections of the small intestine were 16.7%,50.0% and 33.3%.Conclusion In the second section of the small intestine,capsule endoscopy examination get good effect,the rest sections of the small intestine will achieve better examination results,if the checking condition could be improved.
