Synthesis of a novel salicylaldimine and its amine derivative

As a novel salicyaldimine,2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-((2-(propylthio) ethylamino) methyl) phenol was prepared successfully by hydroformylation reaction of 2,4-di-tert-butyl phenol and hexamethylene tetramine to produce 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde followed by condensation reaction of 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde and 2-propylthioethylamine.The salicyaldimine was further reduced to obtain its amine derivative.The compounds were characterized by1H NMR,FTIR and elemental analysis.
