Summary of synthesis methods of olmesartan medoxomil and key intermediates

Olmesartan medoxomil,an angiotensinⅡ1 receptor(AT 1) antagonist,is widely used for the treatment of hypertension and related diseases.This review summarized the synthesis methods of olmesartan medoxomil and the key intermediates ethyl 4-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-2-propyl-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylate and 2-cyano-4'-methyl-biphenyl(CMBP) thereof.Furthermore,each synthetic route was evaluated and compared with others.
