SOLID STATE AMORPHIZATION REACTION IN COLD-ROLLED Ni/Ti MULTILAYERS——I.AN ISOTHERMAL ANNEALING TREATMENT

The Ni/Ti multilayers was produced through repeated cold rolling of coatedNi/Ti powders.The isothermal-annealing-induced solid state amorphization in themultilayers was studied by means of XRD,SEM,TEM and magnetic analysis.Atransient-nucleation model was used for the first time to study the three kinds of relationships(1)between the critical amorphous layer thickness and isothermal temperature,(2)between thecritical annealing time and isothermal temperature,and(3)among the temperature,time,andtransition.It is believed that the above-mentioned quantitative studies can give a direction forthe preparation of bulk amorphous alloy.
