The relationship between growth mindset and life satisfaction of leftbehind children in China: A serial mediation model

Although left-behind children in China have received widespread attention from society, researchers have primarily focused on their psychological and behavioral problems. To address this gap, this study explored their positive psychological resources. We investigated the impact of a growth mindset on life satisfaction among 351 left-behind children in China and the mediating role of positive emotions and hope in the relationship between the two. The results revealed a significant and positive correlation between growth mindset and life satisfaction, while positive emotions and hope played a mediating role in this relationship. The findings provide new perspectives on the intervention measures aimed at improving the life satisfaction of left-behind children. A growth mindset facilitates positive emotions and hope, which can enhance life satisfaction and mitigate psychological problems.
