Chiral substituted cyclohexene carbaldehydes are readily synthesized in excellent enantiomeric excesses from simple nitro­ketone and enal precursors. The domino Michael addition-aldol condensation reaction catalyzed by a chiral secondary amine involves tandem iminium-enamine activation.
