摘要
The novel optical properties of polyhydroxy fullerenes (PHF)—which are water-soluble, biodegradable and antioxidant—are applied for imaging and therapy of cancer. Tumors injected with PHF are imaged with photoacoustic tomography (PAT) and photothermally treated with near-infrared (NIR) laser. Tumor size decreases up to 72% within two hours of treatment, with only a blister visible after 20 hours. Detailed facts of importance to specialist readers are published as "Supporting Information".
