Objective: To compare the effect of methylprednisolone and dexamethasone on asthma. Methods: Eighty asthmastic children were randomly divided into two groups. Forty cases received methylprednisolone 1 ~ 2 mg/kg, once a day for the light cases, twice a day for the secondary or the heavy ones. The other 40 received dexamethasone 0.25 ~ 0.5 mg/kg with the same usage as in the treatment group. Result: Course of treatment with methylprednisolone to treat asthma was obviously shorter than that with dexamethasone. Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of methylprednisolone was better than that of dexamethasone in asthma treatment.
