Objective:To optimize the saponification process of solanesol. Methods:The orthogonal design was employed to establish the optimal saponification process of salanesol. A RP-HPLC was used to quantify the solanesol in the samples. Results:The optimal saponification process was set the seal on ethanol as solvent ( weight/volume ratio of 1:25 ) , the saponification temperature at 45℃, weight/weight ratio of the crude solanesol over catalyzer KOH of 1:2 and saponification period for 3 h. Conclusion:This low cost, easily manipulated and mild reactive saponification process was warranted for further pilot manufacture.
