Research Progress on Cytokines as Vaccine Adjuvant

Cytokines are a kind of regulation factors which have broad bio-activities and can activate the immune cells and involve in immune response.They play a significant role in the generation and regulation of immune response in vivo.DNA vaccination is a novel immunization strategy that has great potential for the development of vaccines and immune therapeutics.An important limitation of DNA immunization in human is the difficulty in generating high levels of antigen-specific antibody responses.It was found in recent studies that certain adjuvant of DNA vaccine,such as cytokines,can greatly amplify immune response,which may help to develop more effective DNA vaccine.Here,the recent progress on cytokines as DNA vaccine adjuvant was reviewed.
