The results of the study of light and color characteristics of compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) by changing the voltage and duration during combustion are shown. The capacity of 15-85 watt CFL with nominal color temperature of 2700 K, 4000 K and 6500 K for direct replacement of incandescent lamps (with attached electronic starting controllers) by changing the voltage from 120 to 260 V and length of operation for 5000 hours was investigated. The dependences of luminous efficacy, changes of chromaticity coordinates, color temperature and color rendering index of overall voltage lamps of various designs. There is shown that luminous efficiency lamps passes through a maximum when changing voltage. For the voltage interval where the luminous efficiency increases, the color temperature remains almost unchanged and the interval where the luminous efficiency decreases, the color temperature increases. Increase can reach more than 500 K for lamps with color temperatures of 4000-6500 K and 200 K for lamps with low color temperatures. The general color rendering index thus decreases by 2-4 units. The lamp color temperature decreases during the lifetime, moreover decrease for high color temperatures and powerful CFL is more substantial. Decrease of the color temperature for 4 thousand hours of burning for powerful lamps with high color temperature can exceed 600 K. The chromaticity coordinates of the CFL during the lifetime (several thousand hours) vary significantly and can extend beyond the specified tolerances for a given color temperature. Color rendering index is thus practically unchanged.
