摘要
A novel light engine structure for AR glasses based on Angular Color MicroLED and waveguide is proposed. This system uses three monochrome RGB MicroLED panels or sub panels to display information in spatially separated color zones. Patented optics utilizing the color cube or diffraction grating is used to merge the RGB zones into a full color picture. Preliminary design and evaluation show that a compact, high‐resolution, low‐cost and highly efficient AR glasses can be achieved by eliminating the transfer of mass amounts of color pixels, which is needed in conventional MicroLED displays. Diffraction gratings are integrated with the waveguide of AR glasses to merge the RGB colors. The brightness, efficiency, and compactness of AR glasses are improved. It enables MicroLED AR glasses for applications in industry and consumers market.
