Testis-specific serine/theroine kinase family consists of five members(i.e Tssk1,Tssk2,Tssk3,Tssk4 and Tssk6),bioinformatic analysis indicates it belongs to the AMPK branch on human kinome tree.Owing to their specific expression in sperm and/or in the testis,the TSSK kinases are attracting researchers' attention.Progress on biochemical characterization,expression and localization in tissues /cells and primary function of these kinases were reviewed in this article.
