In order to investigate the adaptability mechanism of Ulmus pumila in saline environment distribution characteristics of potassium, sodium, and calcium ions in new leaves, old leaves, new branches and root regetative,of U.pumila under high, low and non-salinity soil were studied. The results showed that there were significant differences in the content of K+,Na+,Ca2+ and Mg2+ in different organs of U.pumila.The content of K+,Na+ in the plant increased as the soil salinity concentration of growth region increased; The K+/Na+ ratios of the young organs were higher than those in mature organs, and higher in the leaves and branches than roots; The K+/Na+ ratios of U.pumila which grew under low soil salinity were higher than that grow under high and non-salinity soils;K+,Na+,Ca2+ had higher sensitivity than Mg2+ for salinity;K+ and Na+ was the main factors under osmotic adjustment of four species of salt ions in saline environment.
