Objective To study and establish the standards and methods which can be used to evaluate the high altitude acclimatization in our country. Methods After research achievements on acclimatization to high altitude were systematically reviewed and points of view of experts were extensively collected, based on National Military Standards the establishment was made in target of scientific, simple and convenient standards for troop practices. Results The high altitude acclimatization was categorized to the primary, basic and fully acclimatization. The high altitude acclimatization could be evaluated according to residence time in high altitude, basic physiological parameters (respiratory rate, blood pressure, pulse rate, erythrocyte counting, hemoglobin concentration) and physical working performance including running scores of 1 000 m and maximal oxygen consumption volume (VO 2 max). Conclusion The standards and methods to evaluate high altitude acclimatization are established, and the factors which may influence high altitude acclimatization are discussed too.
