This thesis is focused on residential type of suburbanization process. First, I deal with the meaning of the suburbanization definition and terms related to this topic. Next, I am concerned about economic, social and ecological impact of suburbanization in subur-banization areas, and also selection of socio-geographic methods of research. Throughout this thesis, there are touches on history of the suburbanization process in Great Britain, USA and Czech Republic. Current process of suburbanization is demonstrated on case studies of the cities like Prague, Brno and Ostrava. The primary target of my thesis is to apply new approach to research of suburbanization and afterwards analyze migration data of model area, which is located inside the administrative borders of regions Prague - East and Prague - West.
