ABSTRACT Intact, parathyroidectomized, and thyroparathyroidectomized rats were treated for 30 days with 3 daily injections of calcitonin. At the end of the experiment the contents of hydroxyproline, calcium, and magnesium were determined in the clavicles and the tibias. Compared to the control groups, which received the vehicle for calcitonin, no conclusive bone changes could be observed in the treated rats.
