In this paper we report the optical characterization of a gold nanohole array plasmonic chip designed and implemented for a new label-free biosensing device based on the simultaneous detection of surface plasmon resonance and plasmon-enhanced fluorescence signals. The measured fluorescence spectra of a selected dye deposited on the plasmonic chip show a change of both spectral line shape and intensity with respect to the ones on bare glass and a flat gold surface, taken as references. These changes can be associated to field enhancement effects due to the plasmonic modes supported by the nanostructured gold surface.
