In the present paper,the physical and biological features including biocompatibility and biomechanics adaptability of metallic materials for biomedical application,such as titanium-nickel alloy and β titanium alloy are summarized. Based on the newly status of research and development progress of biomedical shape memory and super-elastic titanium-niobium based β titanium alloy,the development directions and trends of biomedical titanium alloy and their applicational technology are presented. The development tendency of metallic materials for biomedical application is to exploit the nickel-free super-elastic titanium-niobium based β titanium shape memory alloy,with low elastic mo-dulus,high compatibility and biomechanics adaptability.
