Study on the polymorphs of agomelatine

Agomelatine offers superior antidepressant efficacy in all depressed patients,whatever the severity of depression.The aim of this article is to study the polymorphs of agomelatine through investigating the preparation methods of several crystal forms of agomelatine.The polymorphs of agomelatine are determined by IR spectra(IR),powder Ⅹ-ray diffraction.A new crystal form(Ⅹ) is found and determined.It differs from the six crystal forms reported in the literature.The preliminary stability study shows that the crystal form(Ⅹ) can be applied in pharmaceutics.
