Research progress of oil-based drilling fluid at home and abroad

Oil-based drilling fluid is an important part of drilling fluids,which has good characteristics,such as erosion resistance,high temperature resistance,lubricity and borehole wall stability,and is beneficial to the reservoir. It is mainly used for complex stratum of deep well,ultra deep wells and horizontal wells,etc. In this paper,the research of domestic and foreign oil-based drilling fluid is introduced including white oil-based drilling fluid,diesel oil-based drilling fluid,gas oil-based drilling fluid,and lower toxicity drilling fluid. By comparing and evaluating various oil-based drilling fluids,some suggestions are proposed for the development of oil-base drilling fluid.
