UTILIZATION OF LIGNIN AS WOOD ADHESIVE——RECENT DEVELOPMENT AND CHALLENGE

Lignins are available in large quantities as by-products of the pulping industry. The various methods and potential of utilizing lignin as wood adhesive is reviewed and discussed. The molecular weight and molecular weight distribution, type of lignin, pH values, curing methods and cost factors are related to practical application of lignin as wood adhesive.
