摘要
Researchers and practitioners have been traveling to the scenes of damage caused by extreme windstorms for many years. During the past 8 yr-10 yr these visits have become more systematic in their methodology and more organized in their relationships to professional activities. These advancements in process have produced good understandings of the behavior of buildings and other structures under the effects of extreme winds. Further, these understandings have advanced far enough to permit their use in applied research activities and in professional practice.
