摘要
In this chapter, we report an overview about chalcogen-based luminophores featuring aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties. The sixth main group elements are known for the fabrication of ethers and heteroaromatics using especially the elements oxygen, sulphur, selenium and tellurium. These fascinating elements have been used by numerous groups around the world to synthesize emissive compounds, featuring fluorescence and phosphorescence properties. Here the larger chalcogens, such as selenium and tellurium are able to enhance spin-orbit coupling and hence support phosphorescence emission. Additionally emission wavelength tuning can easily be achieved by chalcogen variation. We believe that compounds featuring elements from the sixth main group will for sure broaden the range of emission properties and applications of AIE active compounds.
